Its COLD in Bortala: Pic of the Week

This picture has already been linked to on the FarWestChina Facebook page and Twitter feed, but I think its so good that I want to revisit it. Bortala is a small city on the western edge of Xinjiang that borders Kazakhstan.

Apparently these are month-old recruits to the Chinese army. Whatever people say about boot camp in the US, this has got to be pure torture! Cool picture, though.
