Families holidaying in the UK over the Easter weekend can look forward to glorious sunshine with temperatures set to reach 22C by Thursday, according to Met Office forecasts.
There are high hopes for a sunny Royal wedding too as the spell of dry, warm weather is expected to last up to April 29. Met Office forecaster Rebecca Sherwin said it was most likely to be dry on William and Kate's big day.
Forecasts on the Met Office website show temperatures in London rising from the high teens at the beginning of the week to 22C by Thursday, making the capital warmer than Rome (21C) Majorca (19C) and Athens (18C) on the same day.

Met Office forecaster Rebecca Sherwin said: 'The weather for the start of this week looks similar to what we have at the moment.'It will be mostly dry with a few showers here and there. Most places will start the day with sunny spells and some cloud.
'As we go into the weekend and beyond I think generally the weather is going to be fine and dry with the possibility of a few showers, particularly in coastal areas.
'I think we are talking similar to the weather we have now, perhaps a littl! e warmer - we are looking at maximumtemperatures of maybe 20C in southern areas at the weekend which is warmer than average for this time of year.

'The average temperature for this time of year is around 14 or 14.5C in London , 13-14 for other parts of central and southern England as well as some parts of Wales and around 11 to 12C for northern England, with the temperature a little bit cooler in Scotland.
'The North Sea coast will probably bea bit cloudy, but weather in the south and the south west [coasts] looks similar to what we have at the moment.'Ms Sherwin said it was too early to say for definite what the weather would bring on the weekend of the Royal wedding.
She said: 'The UK-wide outlook for that period, at the moment, we are expecting it to stay fairly settled.'But Easter holidaymakers could face some delays following the fire that temporarily closed the M1 between junctions 1 and 4.The M1 is one of the busiest motorways in Britain and is a strategic link between London, the Midlands and the North.
The Highways Agency managed to reopen two northbound lanes over the weekend and yesterday, and now a further two southbound lanes are open for Easter holiday makers following structural reinforcement.Construction work on the bridge support, and investigations to determine what remedial work needs to be carried out, are ongoing.
'Drivers are still advised to check before travelling, and consider alternative routes as there may still be some congestion due to the reduced capacity of the road,' said a Highways Agency sp! okesman.

Also advising motorists to use alternative routes if possible, transport minister Mike Penning added: Im very conscious that if people think the motorway is open tomorrow and we only have a couple of lanes, we will have congestion. So what Im saying to them is, only use the M1 if you have to.People wanting to check the latest updates should visit www.uktrafficnews.co.uk or www.highways.gov.uk
