Yichang (China) - It was a snowy day

Yichang is not much of a town. A mid-sized city lost between Sichuan and Henan, that grew too fast because economic growth left local officials with too much cash in their hands. You can find there the same buildings, the same pavement, the same urban decor as you find in so many of these other places in China. Not ugly, not attractive, just so typical of China's urban hinterland.

We spent the day wandering around, waiting for the next train to take us more East. And then it started snowing. And what was at first an underwhelming town quickly turned into a haven of calm and poetry. Kids started playing outside. Old people came out with their umbrella. Will always be humbled by how weather and light can fundamentally change the face of a place.
