British Airways cabin crew members have begun voting on a deal that could bring an end to their long-standing dispute with the airline - a disagreement that has caused misery for thousands of passengers.

An end could be in sight for BA's dispute with its cabin crewTrade union Unite has sent out just under 10,000 ballot papers to its members, recommending a universal 'yes' vote in order to resolve the two-year quarrel. The agreement would restore travel concessions to the 6,700 union members who had travel perks withdrawn when they took part in last year's 22-day strike. It would also provide them with a two-year pay deal. The ballot closes on 22nd June.

Meanwhile, Spanish national carrier Iberia is said to be facing pressure from Spanish pilots' union Sepla, which is planning widespread strikes later this week.
Iberia merged with British Airways to form the International Airlines Group in December - an operation headed by former BA boss Willie Walsh. The current dispute in Spain stems from Iberia's recent announcement that it will outsource 10% of its short-haul flights to low-cost alternatives like Vueling - in which Iberia owns a 45% controlling stake.Sepla has said that it is prepared to accept pay cuts, but Iberia - who face competition from carriers easyJet and Ryanair on short-haul operations - has so far refused this concession. Discussions continue.
