Night Markets are a quintessential part of Taipei culture and particulary cuisine, in which many stalls sell uniquely Taiwanese food known as xaiochi ("little eats").

Shilin is the cities oldest and largest Night Market dating back to 1910. The Market sells clothing, shoes, jewellery, bags and art work as well as having a large food market and many entertainment arcades.
