Pagoda Vertorama
William J H Leonard has added a photo to the pool:
This is my first Vertorama from Hong Kong, I'm very pleased with the result although it took an age to complete as it took an age to match up.
Shooting without a tripod meant that the two images didnt match up exactly and required a large amount of photoshopping. The bottom image was of the pagoda and the pond and the top was of the roof of the pagoda and the buildings. The main problem was that when photomerging the roof didnt match up so the result were sections of the roof were phased out like the healing tool gone wrong. This required me to transfer these parts of the roof back on so it looked complete and the two images merged properly...almost.
The next problem was although the roof and the panels underneath were now complete the pillars no longer matched up to the right places on the roof. This meant that i had to 'content aware scale' and stretch the pillars into the right place (the ones on the left) however this left a gap were there was no image data and i had to use the clone stamp to fill in the narrow gap between the second and third pillars, the railings and the stone and shadow ontop of the lake (as the shadow was now missing). basically tiny little bits you wouldn't noticed. But i wanted to get it perfect. This took some time to get the correct detail and some imagination. I think it was successful as it doesn't look perculiar.
The final issue was on the left side of the image above the hut the exposures were different and the buildings didnt line up correctly. I corrected this by covering most of it up with foliage using the clone tool and altering the brighness.
Finally the pond colour was altered to make it look le! ss brown and abit more appealing. The plants were also altered as they looked abit yellow, and the hue was pushed to make them seem more green and lucious.
Alterations to brightness, contrast and vibrance were also made.
All in all the whole piece took about 1.5 - 2hrs mainly trying to sort out the roofing problem. I hope i was worth it.
