Du Fu Thatched Cottage

In the Winter of 759 AD, Du Fu and his family fled to Chengdu in order to seek refuge from the An Lushan Rebellion. Beside the beautiful Blossom Bathing Brook, he built a thatched cottage. Du Fu lived here for nearly four years, and of all the poems he wrote here, more than 240 are preserved.

Du Fu (712-770) was a prominent Tang Dynasty poet and is considered China's greatest realistic poet, whereas Li Bai (701-762) is considered China's greatest romantic poet.
