National Palace Roof

The National Palace Museum is one the main atractions of Taipei and one of the worlds finest collections of Chinese art and historical artifacts. It contains artifacts of the Chinese Imperial government dating back thousands of years. During the KMTs retreat from the Chinese Mainland to Taiwan, the former Imperial art collection was shipped along with the retreating parties. Whilst the forbidden city in Beijing haas more pieces, the National Palace contains the finest pieces in the World. These artifacts are even more valuable due to the Cultural Revolution on the Mainland in the 1960s. The National Palace is not an Ancient structure but built in 1965 as a museum to house these rare and unique artifacts.
